How can we help?
Last updated: June 23, 2026
Whether you are setting up your first store, capturing evidence in the field, or sorting out a subscription question, we are happy to help. The fastest way to reach a real person is by email.
We aim to reply within 2–3 business days. Please include your account email and a short description of what you ran into so we can help on the first reply.
Before you write in: many questions are answered below — managing your subscription, deleting your account and data, and what we honestly mean by “tamper-evident” and “legal-ready.”
Frequently asked questions
What is Troth?
Troth is a native iOS app for independent convenience-store and gas-station owners. It gives you per-regulator compliance checklists — food safety, fuel/UST, tobacco & alcohol, and OSHA — along with reminders and a tamper-evident Evidence Vault for the photos and records you capture. In plain terms, Troth helps you organize your recordkeeping, stay on a schedule, and keep an orderly history of what you did and when. It is a recordkeeping and reminder tool; it does not provide legal, regulatory, or compliance advice.
How do the free tier and Troth Plus differ?
You can use Troth with its core checklists, reminders, and evidence capture. Troth Plus is an optional auto-renewable subscription at $9.99/month or $79.00/year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Billing is handled by Apple — we do not receive your card details. You can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Troth Plus billing runs entirely through Apple, so you manage it in your Apple Account rather than inside Troth:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions.
- Select Troth Plus.
- Choose Cancel Subscription, or change your plan.
Canceling stops future renewals; you keep Plus access through the end of the current paid period. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the free trial ends, you will not be charged. A subscription that is not canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends renews automatically, and the same 24-hour-before-period-end rule applies to the trial-to-paid conversion.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account directly in the app: go to Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your account and the associated store data and evidence from our systems, including your store profile, store locations, units, checklists and checks, temperature readings, schedules, corrective actions, your audit log, and your evidence photos. When you delete your account, your Sign in with Apple token is revoked.
Legal-hold note: records you have explicitly placed under a legal hold are retained until you release the hold. This is by design, so that evidence you have deliberately preserved is not lost. Release the hold first if you intend for those records to be deleted.
Canceling a subscription and deleting your account are separate actions. Canceling Troth Plus stops billing but does not delete your data; deleting your account removes your data as described above.
Is my data private?
Yes. We do not track you. There is no advertising, no analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers, no data brokers, and we do not sell or share personal data for advertising. The data we do collect is your account email, an optional display name, and the business compliance records and evidence you create in the app (such as your store profile, checklists and checks, temperature readings, and evidence photos) — it is linked to your account and used only to make the app work for you. It is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Our backend runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage) on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States; Firebase/Google is our sole third-party data processor. For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy.
One detail worth calling out: the optional hands-free voice capture uses your microphone and Speech recognition only with your consent, and transcribes your speech on-device using Apple’s Speech framework. Your voice audio is not sent to or stored on our servers. The camera is used only when you take an evidence photo.
What does “tamper-evident” and “legal-ready” mean, honestly?
We choose these words carefully, and we want them to mean exactly what they say.
Tamper-evident, not tamper-proof. When you capture an evidence photo, the Evidence Vault seals it with a SHA-256 hash in an append-only chain. That makes alteration of a stored record detectable. It is not “tamper-proof”: we do not guarantee that records cannot be altered, deleted, lost, or corrupted, or that the chain detects every possible form of tampering.
Legal-ready — authenticity, not admissibility or outcome. Troth can produce documentation — an evidence manifest, hash-chain verification, and a certification framed around Federal Rules of Evidence 902(13)/(14) — that speaks to the authenticity of a record: that it is what it purports to be and is unaltered since capture. This does not establish admissibility, the weight a court or authority will give a record, or any inspection, audit, regulatory, or legal outcome. Those are decided solely by the relevant court, regulator, or authority. The certification speaks to the integrity of the record, not the truth of the underlying act it depicts.
Does Troth guarantee I pass an inspection?
No. Troth organizes your checklists, sends reminders, and records what you enter and capture — it does not perform your compliance for you, and it does not provide legal advice. You remain solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations. Using Troth does not ensure or guarantee compliance, passing any inspection or audit, or avoiding any fine, citation, penalty, closure, or lawsuit. Troth is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any regulator. For the full terms, see our Terms.
Data requests
You can access, correct, export, and delete your data. Export is available in-app as PDF/CSV, and you can delete your account in Settings → Delete Account. For an access, correction, or deletion request you would rather we handle, email us at finnegantom65@gmail.com from your account email and we will follow up.
